The Western Veil Nebula

The Veil Nebula is a cloud of heated and ionized gas and dust in the constellation Cygnus. This picture known as the “Witch’s Broom” is part of a much larger structure known as the Cygnus Loop. The entire complex is the remnants of a supernova star 20 times larger than our sun that exploded 10,000 to 20,000 years ago. The area has expanded to cover 36 times the area of the full moon. It is beyond comprehension in size.
