The Trifid Nebula

The Tulip Nebula is a bright emission nebula filled with a reddish glowing cloud of interstellar gas and dust. It sits high in the sky about 8,000 light years distance and is 70 light years across. This image is the combination of 194 shots for a total of 11.5 hours of exposure time. This image is the result of 15+ hours of exposure time at an average of 4 minutes for each exposure.
