The Helix Nebula 

The Helix Nebula is a planetary nebula located in the constellation Aquarius, it is one of the closest planetary nebulas at only 650 light years away. At only 2.87 light years across it is much smaller than many objects on this page. Despite its close proximity to Earth, it is a difficult object to capture from the Northern Hemisphere since it stays very low on the Southern Horizon. 589 shots comprise this image for a total of 29.45 hours of integration!
