Monkey Head Nebula

The Monkey Head Nebula is an emission nebula located 6400 light years from Earth. It is believed to have formed through hierarchical collapse. The Nebula is a star-forming region where newborn stars near the center illuminate the surrounding gas with energetic radiation.  This image is the result of just over 10 hours of data and 309 exposures.
